Open Edit Mother Tongue
Go to Old → Mother Tongue → Edit. View and Edit keep the original selected record ID. These child screens use a separate reference-form layout choice from the list indexes.
Choose your layout
Classic opens first unless your institute has saved another reference-form default. Try the new layout and View old layout switch both ways; Make this my default or Make old layout my default saves one choice shared by all nine Religion, Mother Tongue and Student Group/Discipline child forms and views. Explicit layout links override that choice for a visit. Failed preference saves keep the previous choice with Retry. Switching the same screen retains the current draft and record ID without saving it; changing records or leaving the screen follows the original navigation.
Save the original form
Enter the reference name. Student Group also retains its original Description text field. Values, field IDs and raw save payloads are unchanged. An empty name or a pending mutation prevents submitting again; the original validation and server access checks apply. Create or Update uses the original callback and returns to the corresponding list after success. Layout switching does not save a reference row.
Record loading and errors
The screen keeps its original loading indicator, record query and numeric ID handling. A missing ID or failed read follows the existing return-to-list behavior. It does not silently switch to a different record or add a new permission.
This optional presentation does not grant access or send messages. Browser Print remains a browser action; no dedicated report Print or redesigned print-fit promise is added.
