Open a student update form
Open General → Extras → Students By User. Use Update on the required student row; the existing action opens that student in a new tab. Existing access permissions remain unchanged.
Choose your layout
Classic opens first unless you save another default. Use Try the new layout or View old layout to switch. A layout in the page address takes priority for that visit. If saving a default fails, your previous choice remains; try saving again. Switching keeps your current form entries while this page stays open.
Keep the same student and entries
The original student details, dates, status, subjects, contacts, visitors, photo and attachment controls remain available. Switching views keeps the current student address and does not update the record, upload a file or send a message.
Use the original update choices
Update and Go Back and Update and View keep their existing behavior. Message choices and their confirmation remain unchanged. The layout choice adds no new Update, Retry, Print or approval step. The original loading, return, validation, pending and error behavior remains unchanged.
