How does a teacher mark attendance for their class?
The daily register works per class and section. The teacher opens their class, sees the list of students, and gives each child an attendance mark. The marks are the ones the school has chosen, for example Present, Absent, Late and Short Leave, so the register matches the way the school already records attendance on paper.
Once the register is saved, the same record is used everywhere else in the system. Attendance reports, parent alerts, the Owner App and any attendance fine on the fee challan all read from it, so nobody has to enter it twice.

Can teachers mark attendance from their phone?
Yes. The EDUBase Teachers App is a free Android app. When the school creates a teacher's app login from their employee record, it also assigns the classes and subjects that teacher handles. The teacher then marks attendance for those assigned classes from the phone, without needing a computer in the classroom.
The same app is used for the daily diary, PTM voice notes, messages to parents, and the teacher's own attendance, notices and payslip, so attendance is one of several daily tasks in one place.
What if the school uses QR cards, biometric machines or face gates?
Some schools prefer attendance to be marked automatically at the gate or the classroom door. EDUBase supports this alongside the manual register, and every method feeds the same attendance records.
- QR cards: print student QR ID cards and scan them with the free QR Attendance App; attendance is marked in real time.
- Biometric devices: standard fingerprint or face terminals can be connected so their punches mark attendance in EDUBase.
- Face attendance gates: an ordinary Android tablet recognises enrolled students on the device itself, with a liveness check so a photo held up to the camera is not accepted.
- Gate scans can send an SMS, WhatsApp or app notification to the parent.
How are parents told when a child is absent?
After attendance is marked, absentee SMS or WhatsApp messages can be sent to parents the same minute. Parents can also follow their child's attendance in the EDUBase Parents App. The owner or principal sees today's absentees in the Owner App, with call and WhatsApp buttons to follow up with families directly.
Message wording comes from the school's own SMS templates, so the text parents receive is the school's, not a generic message.
Can a teacher correct a mistake or mark several classes at once?
A past day's attendance can be viewed and updated, and the change is logged so the school can see who changed what. For a coordinator or office staff member covering many classes, bulk attendance lets them mark several classes or a whole campus on one screen.
Schools can also set attendance alerts, which tell staff when a class has not been marked by the expected time, so a forgotten register is noticed the same morning.
What reports come from the daily register?
Once teachers mark attendance consistently, the school gets per-student, per-class, day-wise and combined attendance summaries. Blank and filled attendance sheets can be printed for files or inspections. If the school chooses, an absence fine can be added to the next fee challan automatically.
