Open Academic Duration
Open the existing Old → Academic Duration entry under the Core settings heading.
Choose your layout
Classic opens first unless a different default is saved. Try the new layout and View old layout switch both ways. Explicit layout links override the saved default for the visit. Failed preference saves retain the previous choice and offer Retry. Switching on this page keeps the same mounted year/settings engine and draft, query values, hash and navigation state without saving.
Original year and date rules
Academic years and Date rules are presentation sections over the original controls. Opening a year closes the previous open year in the same scope. Opening, closing or reopening does not move, delete or promote school records. Existing attendance keys can be corrected; new attendance dates and newly added or changed exam dates follow their selected outside-date rule. Parent visibility is a separate Not enforced/Block read filter, and past academic years remain selectable in the Parents App. Original scope, authorization, date validation and transition confirmation stay unchanged.
Checks, history and recovery
Year-end checks are advisory and run only when requested. Preflight opens only with the original confirmation, and history loads only for the selected year and shows the newest 200 events. Pending or failed main data blocks callbacks and hides stale content. Failed preflight, checklist or history offers Retry for that exact query; failed checklist remains advisory. Cancel and Close remain available for recovery.
Browser Print
The original full year table and settings table remain in browser Print, irrespective of the selected screen section. Added help/section controls and original hidden actions stay excluded. No new export, Print action, financial operation or message is added.
