Biometric Readers

Connect a ZKTeco attendance reader to EDUBase over the internet, see whether it is online, and match each reader PIN to a staff member or student — needs the Admin :: Biometric Readers privilege.

Admin → Biometric Readers is where you look after the fingerprint and face attendance readers on your walls. A ZKTeco reader (for example the K50) connected to EDUBase sends every punch straight to your school over the internet, within seconds — there is no computer or extra software to keep running at school.

Getting a reader connected

  1. Send EDUBase support the reader's serial number (on the reader: Menu → System Info → Device Info, or on the sticker at the back). Support registers it to your school.
  2. On the reader open Menu → COMM → Cloud Server Setting and enter the server address and port support gives you. Leave Proxy off.
  3. Within a minute the reader shows as Online on this screen.

Matching PINs to people

Every person enrolled on a reader has a number, the PIN (also called the user ID). EDUBase knows who a punch belongs to by matching that PIN to the Bio ID of a staff member or a student. The PINs tab lists every PIN the reader knows, with the name stored on the reader, and shows who it is matched to in EDUBase. For a PIN that is not matched yet, choose the staff member or student and save. You can also upload a CSV file with the columns pin, name, type, id (type is staff or student, id is the staff ID or the student ID) to match many at once.

A PIN can belong to only one person. If it is already given to someone else, EDUBase tells you who, and you can choose to move it.

Punches that matched nobody

A punch whose PIN is not matched yet is kept, not lost. As soon as you match the PIN, EDUBase marks those waiting punches automatically (within a few minutes, or at once when you save the match here).

Good to know

  • Attendance follows your existing shifts and late rules, exactly like QR and fingerprint attendance.
  • Parents and staff get the usual arrival messages only for punches that reach EDUBase within a few minutes. A reader that was offline for a while still sends its stored punches, and those are marked without a late message.
  • When a reader is first connected it may send punches from before it was connected to EDUBase. Those are stored but not added to past attendance registers. Ask EDUBase support if you want an older period added.
  • EDUBase never stores fingerprints, face images or photos from the reader — only the PIN, the name and the time of each punch.

Roman Urdu: Is screen par aap apne school ki attendance machines (ZKTeco) dekh sakte hain. Machine par har shakhs ka ek PIN hota hai; usay staff ya student ke Bio ID se milayen. Jo punch kisi se match nahi hua woh mehfooz rehta hai aur PIN milane ke baad khud-ba-khud attendance mein lag jata hai.

Readers without a cloud setting: EDUBase Bio Bridge

Some older fingerprint readers (for example a ZKTeco K50 whose COMM menu shows only Ethernet and PC Connection) cannot send punches over the internet by themselves. For these, EDUBase provides a small Windows program, EDUBase Bio Bridge, that runs on a school PC on the same network as the reader and forwards every punch to EDUBase.

  1. Download it from General → EDUBase App Links → EDUBase Bio Bridge on the PC that stays switched on.
  2. Double-click the file and choose 1) Install / update. The first time it asks for the reader's IP address (Menu → COMM → Ethernet) and Comm Key (usually 0), tests the connection, and then runs in the background — also after the PC restarts.
  3. When a newer version is published, Admin → Biometric Readers says Update available. Download it again and choose 1) Install / update; your settings are kept.

The version you are running is shown at the top of the program's window and on the Readers tab. The bridge only reads the reader — it never deletes punches or users.
