Two different figures, set in two different places. That is the part that catches people. Take the usual example — Nursery's admission fee is Rs. 8,000 and this one family is to be let off Rs. 6,000. Kitna goes where? The 8,000 is set once on the plan for the whole class; the 6,000 is a concession on this child's challan.
The standard amount — on the plan
What the class normally pays — the class-wise fee structure, entered into the system once — lives on Core › Particulars Amount and Repeating Months, against the campus, fee plan and charge. An admission fee is set there with First Time ticked and no months ticked, so it is charged once on the child's very first challan and never again.
This child's reduction — on the challan
One child paying alag from the rest of the class is a concession, not a new plan. It is given for that one family when the challan is raised or paid, and shows up on Admissions › Challan Discounts. The reason for it — Sibling, Staff Child, Merit — comes from Core › Discount Types; the figure is typed in per family.
Do not change the plan's amount to give one child a discount. That changes it for everybody on that plan.
A whole band paying differently
When a group of students should pay a different amount — not an exception, a different rate — put them on their own fee plan list instead. Create it on Core › Fee Plan List and price it separately.
Steps
- Set the standard amounts on Core › Particulars Amount and Repeating Months — for each class's fee plan (Nursery, Prep, One …) that is where "admission fee kitna hai" is decided
- Assign the student a plan on Admissions › Create Fee Plans
- Generate the challan
- Apply any concession for that family on the challan, choosing a reason from your discount types
Common confusion
"The admission fee is charged every month." Months are ticked as well as First Time. Untick every month.
"The discount did not come off." It may still be waiting on approval — check Admissions › Pending Approvals Discounts.
"I changed the amount but this child's old challan is the same." A challan keeps the amount it was issued with. Edit that challan, or let the new amount apply from the next one.
