How do I raise fees for a new year across students at once?

Last updated

Extras › Student Yearly Fee Increment moves students from one year's fees to the next in one pass, instead of editing each fee plan by hand.

This is the screen for har saal sab students ki fees barhani hai — the yearly increase applied to every student together, rather than a one-off correction to one child's fee.

Steps

  1. Go to Extras › Student Yearly Fee Increment
  2. Set From Year — the year the students are on now
  3. Set To Year — the year you are moving them to
  4. Narrow by campus and class if you want to do it in stages
  5. Use Add Fee Plan to attach the plan for the new year where one is needed
  6. Apply

Do it in stages

Run one class first and check a few students' fee plans and next challan before applying it to the whole school. A fee change that is wrong is far cheaper to find on thirty students than on three thousand.

The other ways to change a fee

  • A whole class's plan — the bulk fee update on the View/Edit Fee Plans screen
  • One student — that student's own fee plan
  • What the plan costs — Core › Particulars Amount and Repeating Months, which is where each charge's amount lives

Common confusion

"Old challans still show the old amount." Correct, and deliberate. A challan keeps the amount it was issued with; only challans generated after the change carry the new figure.

"Nothing changed for some students." They were not on the From Year's plan, so there was nothing to move. Check what plan those students actually carry.
