Yes — Admissions › Generate Challan Installment Wise generates challans that break the amount into installments instead of asking for it all at once. Schools use it for admission fees and annual charges that a family cannot pay in a single month.
How each installment is worked out
You set up each installment separately, and the amount can be derived in more than one way — as an absolute figure, from the tuition fee, or from the challan total. Choose the basis that matches how your school describes the arrangement to parents, then check the first generated challan before doing the rest.
Steps
- Go to Admissions › Generate Challan Installment Wise
- Choose the students
- Set how many installments and how each one is calculated
- Generate
- Open one student's challan and confirm the split is what you intended
Installment on an existing challan — Make Installment
A challan that already exists can be split at the counter. On Admissions › Pay or Print Fee Challans every row has a Make Installment button (the file icon); it opens the challan in a new tab.
- Set Installment No. (starts at 1 and moves on by itself after each save; a number cannot be used twice on the same challan)
- Pick the Challan Month and Due Date the installment should carry
- In the table type the Installment Amount against each fee head — it cannot be more than what is still payable on that head, and Remaining shows what stays on the original
- Press Submit, or Submit & Send SMS to text the Challan Generated message
What happens: a new challan is created for the installment amount, with its own month, due date and consumer number, and the same amount is taken off the original challan. Nothing is paid at this point — the parent then pays each piece from Pay or Print like any other challan. Repeat with Installment No. 2, 3… to split further; the Other Payables list at the bottom shows every open challan of the student.
So: use this screen when the split is planned in advance, and Make Installment when a parent asks at the counter.
How many installments at most?
Up to 12 on Generate Challan Installment Wise — the box reads No of Installments (1-12), one per month of the year, and when you use percentages they must add up to 100. 18 or 20 installments are not possible there, because a student is billed month by month, not several times inside one month.
If a parent needs to pay one month's challan in smaller pieces, use Make Installment on Pay or Print Fee Challans for that challan (above) — that splits a single challan into as many parts as you need.
Common confusion
"The amounts do not add up to the full fee." Check which basis each installment was calculated from — mixing bases across installments is what usually causes a shortfall.
"Can I change the installments later?" Regenerate the challans, provided none has been paid. Once a payment is recorded against one, adjust it on the challan rather than regenerating.
