HRM › Salary › Lecture Rates holds the price list. You may not need it at all: if a teacher is paid the same for every lecture, set only the default rate on their salary plan and leave this screen empty.
Use it when the rate depends on what was taught.
Blank means "any"
Every rate names a teacher, an amount, and the month it starts from. Class, Section and Subject are optional, and leaving one blank means any:
- all three blank → the rate for every lecture this teacher gives
- Subject = Physics only → Physics in any class
- Class = BS-IV and Subject = Physics → only Physics in BS-IV
Which rate wins
The most specific matching rate is used. Class + section + subject beats class + subject, which beats class alone, which beats one naming nothing. If two are equally specific, the one that starts in the later month wins.
That is what lets you write the general rule once and add exceptions, instead of listing every combination.
Rates move in whole months, never backwards
Starts from is a month, not a date. A rate agreed mid-month applies from the following month.
Common confusion
"I raised the rate but last month's salary did not change." That is deliberate. A generated salary keeps its own copy of the amounts, so an old salary slip always reprints exactly the same. Only months that have not been calculated yet use the new rate.
"I deleted a rate — did I break old payslips?" No, for the same reason. Deleting affects only future calculations.
"One session was agreed at a special price." Do not add a rate for it. Put the amount in Rate override on that entry in the Lecture Register — an override beats every rate card.
"The rate is showing as 0 / 'no rate'." No rate card matched and the teacher's default rate is also 0. Set a default rate on the salary plan, or add a matching rate here. A lecture with no rate is counted as zero rather than being guessed at.
