Yes. On the teacher app, Parent-Teacher Meetings shows the sittings assigned to that teacher. Opening a child gives the evaluation sheet, and — when recording is switched on — a ● Record this meeting button at the top.
The teacher presses record, has the meeting, presses stop. The recording is uploaded and the notes come back a few moments later: a summary, the key points, strengths, concerns and anything agreed. The teacher edits them and presses Save. The notes are a draft until a person has checked them.
Why the record button might not be there
Two switches must BOTH be on:
- The school's — PTM settings, off by default. Recording a parent is not something a school starts doing because an update arrived.
- The event's — the Allow teachers to record voice notes tick on the PTM event.
If either is off, the button is hidden, because a button that fails when pressed is worse than no button.
What is kept
The audio file is kept exactly as recorded, with a checksum, so it can be played back later if what was said is ever disputed. The transcript and the notes are stored beside it — never instead of it. What the teacher approved and what was written automatically are kept separately, so it is always possible to tell which is which.
Limits
- A recording stops by itself at the school's limit (10 minutes unless changed), so a phone left recording in a pocket cannot produce an hour of audio.
- A school can set a monthly cap on recorded minutes. Past it, meetings are still recorded in writing.
- Tell the parent before you record them.
Where the recordings are heard
On the web at General › PTM › Evaluation (needs the PTM — Voice Notes permission), and in the owner app under Reports › Parent-Teacher Meetings.
