Where to write it
General › Student Diary › Create. Each selected subject has Classwork, Homework and Vacation boxes.
Parents App — Notes, Assignments, Vacation Work
Those three tiles (Student Home and Academics) are separate lists. They still read the same Student Diary, split by what you filled in:
- Notes — Classwork text or attachments
- Assignments — Homework text or attachments
- Vacation Work — the Vacation box on Create / Edit Student Diary
The combined Diary tile still shows the whole day. Vacation Work stays empty until a teacher fills that box here (the Teacher App still writes Classwork and Homework only).
Path: General › Student Diary › Create (or Edit) → per subject, Classwork, Homework, and Vacation.
Teachers also write Vacation Work from the Teacher App (Diary → Create Student Diary → Vacation Work per subject), same fields as General › Student Diary. Parents Vacation Work list fills from either door.
Teacher App: recovering from a diary save or list error
This guidance is for Teacher App 7.4.6 (version code 75) and Parents App 12.2.5 (version code 124) and later. Older installed versions may show different messages; update from the Play Store when this version is available to your device.
Open Teacher App → Diary → Create Student Diary. The form opens the Diary list only when the server confirms a successful save.
- Diary not saved: read the reason, choose Back to diary, correct the entry and save again. The text and selected attachments remain in the open form.
- Attachment not available: nothing was sent because an attachment could not be read. Return to the diary, select that attachment again and save.
- Diary save not confirmed: the save may already have reached the server. Keep the draft and check General → Student Diary for that class and date before saving again. The app does not automatically resend a save.
In Teacher App → Diary, a short server interruption, including a 502 error, triggers safe retries of the list request. If loading still fails, tap Diaries could not be loaded. Tap here to retry. Loading the list again does not resend a diary. A successfully loaded empty list means there are no entries for the selected approval filter.
Parents App: work-type filters and empty cards
In Parents App → Student Home / Academics → Diary, the CW,HW / HW / CW filter shows entries with matching text or attachments. Selecting Homework excludes classwork-only entries instead of leaving empty cards. Matching attachment-only entries remain visible. Clear the filter to see both types. The separate Vacation Work list keeps its Vacation Work content.
