🔴 Two tiles that will not always agree
Inside now counts people: visitors the gate checked in and has not checked out. Pending meetings counts appointments that have not been held. They come from different records and they are supposed to differ — a delivery driver is inside with no meeting; a parent stuck in traffic has a pending meeting and is not inside. Any single number combining them would have to be wrong about one of the two.
Average visit length
Calculated only over visits that have been checked out. A visit still running is not counted as zero minutes — that would drag the average toward nothing all morning, which is exactly when somebody is likely to read it. Early in the day the figure is based on very few visits; the tile says how many.
Delayed meetings
Past their start time and not started. This is the most useful card on the page: it is the one that tells reception somebody has been sitting in the lobby for twenty minutes.
The trend chart
Gate entries per day for the last seven days. A day with no visitors shows as a zero, not a gap — a chart that quietly skipped Sunday would make the week look busier than it was.
Student leave & short leave
The second row of the dashboard reports student leave, and it keeps two different records apart on purpose:
- Exit passes — the same-day passes this front desk issued: how many today, how many are waiting at the gate, how many have left, and the split by short / half day / full day / medical.
- Leave requests — multi-day absence requests raised in the Parents App or by staff: pending approval, on leave today, and short leave today.
They are never added together. A child can have one, both, or neither on the same day, so a combined figure would count some children twice and miss others. Neither number marks the attendance register — an approved leave left as Absent is still counted absent and still fined.
