Three screens under General › House Management System:
- House Management — create the houses themselves
- Student List by House — who is in a house, filtered by campus
- Student Strength Summary — the counts
Steps
- Go to General › House Management System › House Management
- Press Create and fill in the house: Name, Color and Slogan. All three are required.
- Assign students to houses on their student records
- Check the result on Student List by House — choose the campus, then the house
Name, Color, Slogan
Color is a fixed list of sixteen: Red, Blue, Green, Yellow, Purple, Pink, Indigo, Orange, Teal, Cyan, Brown, Gray, Black, White, Maroon, Navy. If your school runs the usual Red, Blue, Green and Yellow houses, type the name you use — Red House, Iqbal House, whatever it is called — and pick the colour that goes with it.
The list on House Management shows every house with its name, colour and slogan, and each row has Edit and Delete.
Houses cut across classes
A house is not a class or a section. Children from every class belong to the same house, which is exactly why houses live here and not under Core. Putting houses in sections instead will disturb attendance and result printing, because those are built per class and section.
Core › Student Group/Discipline is a different thing again — a general-purpose grouping. Use houses for houses.
Keeping the numbers even
Student Strength Summary is the screen to open before sports day. If one house has noticeably more children than the others, move a few on their student records and check the summary again.
Common confusion
"A house is empty." Houses are assigned per student; creating the house does not put anyone in it.
"The list is short." Check the campus filter, and remember inactive students are not listed.
