Widgets are the summary cards on the EMS dashboard — Fee Collection, Today's Attendance, and more as they are added over time. Every user builds their own set: what you add is yours, and it does not change what anyone else sees.
What it is
A Widget library of ready-made cards, grouped by module, that any user can add to their own dashboard. Each card shows live numbers for the school, refreshes when it is opened, and links straight to the full report behind it. Every widget uses the same card frame, so a widget added to the library later works the same way as the two described below.
Add a widget
Two doors open the same Widgets page:
- Dashboard → Add widgets — the button sits above your dashboard cards
- General → Widgets
The page has tabs. On Widget library, cards are grouped by module; press Add on a card to put it on your dashboard, and the button then reads Added. Switch to My dashboard and turn on Customise to drag a card into a different position, resize it from Small up to Wide, or remove it — turn Customise off when the layout is how you want it.
Read a card
Every widget card follows the same pattern:
- A period switch where the numbers depend on a date range, e.g. Today / This month / This session
- Expand opens the same card larger with its detail broken down — by campus, by class, and so on — without leaving the dashboard
- Open report leaves the card and takes you to the full report screen behind it
- The card's kebab (⋮) menu has Refresh — numbers update when a card is opened or refreshed, not continuously in the background
Who can see a widget
Permissions is the tab only a Super Admin sees. Every widget defaults to visible for Everyone; switching a widget to Selected users and choosing specific staff makes it disappear from the Widget library and from My dashboard for everyone not on that list — they simply do not see it as an option to add, it is not a greyed-out button.
If Widgets is missing
If a staff login has no Widgets entry under General, the reason is almost always the same one: that login does not hold the privilege. Dashboard :: Widgets is what shows the section at all; Dashboard :: Widget Permissions additionally shows the Permissions tab (in practice, only Super Admins need it). Every school's Super Admin already holds both — granted on 2026-09-20 — so for any other staff member, the school's own admin ticks Dashboard :: Widgets (and Dashboard :: Widget Permissions if that person should also control who sees which widget) in Admin → Users & Privileges.
The two widgets today
Fee Collection (module Finance) — a Today / This month / This session switch; collected of due is payments received against that period's challans, so the figure stays a percentage under 100, while Received is all cash received in the period regardless of which challan it was against; counts of paid, unpaid and overdue challans; a campus-wise table; a breakdown by fee head; and the top overdue classes. Open report leads to Finance → Reports → Day-wise Paid Challans.
Today's Attendance (module Exam & Attendance) — present, absent and leave counts against total students, by campus, the lowest-marked classes, and which sections have not been marked yet. Open report leads to Exam & Attendance → Attendance Summary.
More widgets join the same library as they are built; a widget not named here still follows the same Add / Customise / Permissions rules as these two.
