Staff attendance is taken and corrected on one screen with two tabs — hazri lagayi bhi yahin jati hai aur galti theek bhi yahin hoti hai:
- HRM › Attendance › Take Attendance — mark a day that has not been marked
- HRM › Attendance › View/Update Attendance (the Manage / Update tab) — see and correct what is already marked

Marking a day
Open Take Attendance, pick the date, and set each staff member's status with the coloured buttons — the acronyms your school has switched on (Present, Absent, Late, Leave, Short Leave…). Mark All sets every row you can currently see, so filter first if you mean only some.
Correcting
- Open View/Update Attendance. It shows a From – To range (To defaults to the same day), so one screen can hold several days
- Change the status button, lecture count or note on a row — editing a row ticks its checkbox by itself
- Press Update Attendance. Only ticked rows are saved; each row is saved to its own date
In Time / Out Time are read-only here. A row that came from a QR, biometric or face scan keeps its scan times and its source; you only change the status on top. Rows marked QR or Biometric have a VD button that lists the actual scans.
Why attendance will not save
If an employee's status changes on screen but comes back the way it was, that row was skipped rather than saved. There are two reasons:
- Locked date. HRM › Lock Update Attendance freezes attendance after payroll; this screen honours the Lock Attendance date (the monthly lock guards the monthly summary screen). Any row on or before that date is skipped and the message says so: Less than Lock Date Attendance cannot be updated, remaining updated successfully. Move the lock back, fix the day, set the lock again.
- Salary already generated for that employee's month. That row is skipped too, and the message adds Attendance cannot be updated for the Employees who have already generated salaries — the other ticked rows still save. Once salary exists for a month, that employee's attendance in it is frozen from this screen.
Deleting a day
Delete Attendance (needs the delete right) removes the ticked rows permanently, with any QR or biometric scan detail behind them, and ignores the lock. Use it for a row that should never have existed; to fix a wrong status, update instead.
Common confusion
"A staff member is missing from the list." They are inactive, or their department or campus is outside the filter at the top.
"Which screen does payroll read?" This one. If both daily records and a monthly summary exist for a month, the salary screen asks which to count — see the salary calculation article.
