Exam & Att (formerly Exam & Attendance) › Student Attendance › View/Update Attendance is the web screen for a register that was marked wrongly — attendance galat lag gayi hai, theek karni hai: a child marked absent by mistake who was present, or a day that should not be there at all. It lists only the days that HAVE been marked (on the web, in the Teacher App or by QR / face scan), so you can edit a status or delete a record. Take Attendance hides a student whose day is already marked — corrections are made here.
Steps
- Set From and To (default: 1st of this month to today; same date in both to fix one day). Records load on their own; Go to Attendance reloads after a date change.
- Narrow the grid with the column filters (Campus, Class, Section, SID, Roll #, name…) or the search box.
- Edit a row by clicking its new status — A, P, L, OL… Only statuses switched on under Admin › Attendance Acronym Active/Inactive appear.
- Press Update Attendance, or Update & Send SMS.
What Update and Delete really touch
- Every loaded record arrives ticked, but the buttons act only on ticked records the grid is currently showing. The line under the buttons says how many. A record hidden by a filter is never updated or deleted — filtering to one class and pressing Delete removes that class only.
- Only records whose status you actually changed are saved. Untouched students are not rewritten and get no SMS.
- Filter Attendance follows the live selection: filter to A, mark three P, and they leave the grid — the line says "3 more will still be updated", and they are.
- Attendance Type (Manual = marked on the web, QR, Teacher App…) is never rewritten by an edit; the original source stays as evidence.
- Delete Attendance removes every ticked visible record, changed or not, after a confirmation. That day is unmarked again and Take Attendance offers the student for that date once more.
Update & Send SMS
The SMS block on the right decides Branded / App / WhatsApp, Father / Mother / Student contact, Parents App Notification, and Send SMS Only Not Presents (on by default — a student set to Present gets nothing). The text is the Exam › SMS Template of the student's campus for that status; no template, no message. Plain Update Attendance sends no SMS — but with Parents App Notification ticked (the default) the changed students' parents still get an app notification for the new status, under the same ticks and template rule.
Where does marked attendance show — and why is it not on Take Attendance?
Whether it was marked on the web, in the Teacher App, or by a QR or face scan, a marked day shows here on View/Update Attendance. A class whose attendance has not been marked shows on Take Attendance instead. So:
- the record is not on View/Update Attendance → that day was not marked; mark it on Take Attendance
- a class is not on Take Attendance → it has already been marked; find it here
Common confusion
"The grid is empty." Nobody marked those dates — mark them on Take Attendance. "A student who left is missing." Inactive students' records are not listed.
