No. Docs (the button beside Support in the top bar) is a shelf written by the EDUBase team and read by every school — one article, one edit, every school sees the same text. Docs › New is the editor that writes it, and it is for EDUBase staff only.
What a school user sees
- On the Docs list, New article is shown greyed out, and the Edit control on an article is greyed too. It is disabled rather than hidden, so you can see the feature exists. Hovering it shows the usual You are not allowed, please check your privileges text — but no privilege unlocks it; only an EDUBase staff login can.
- If you open the New address directly, the page sends you back to the Docs list as soon as it confirms you are not EDUBase staff.
- Draft articles do not appear for schools at all — only published ones. If a support person mentions an article you cannot find, it may still be a draft.
What the editor holds (for EDUBase staff)
- Title and Category are required; the category box suggests the categories already in use so a new article joins "Parents App" instead of inventing "Parents app" beside it
- Order (a number for sorting inside the category) and a one-line Summary shown under the title in the list
- Published — ticked by default: visible to every school. Untick to keep it a draft only staff can see, and publish later
- The Article body, in the same rich-text editor used elsewhere in the system
Saving a new article makes its web address from the title. Retitling later does not change that address, so a link a school bookmarked keeps working.
Steps (if you are EDUBase staff)
- Open Docs and press New article
- Fill Title, Category, Summary, Order
- Write the article; untick Published if it is not ready
- Press Publish article
Common confusion
"We want a place for our own school's procedures." Docs cannot hold per-school text — everything in it is shared with all schools. If a topic would help other schools too, tell support and they can write a general article.
"The article opens but the New button does nothing." That is the greyed state: your login is a school account, not an EDUBase staff account.
