What this screen is for
A parent normally signs in to the Parents app with a code that is sent to their phone. That works well when the phone is in their hand and the SMS arrives. It works badly at the admission counter, where the parent is standing in front of you, the number on the form has just been typed in, and nobody wants to wait for a text.
General → Parent App Login Links is the counter answer. You find the child, choose which parent number the login is for, and the system produces a one-time sign-in link. You can print it as a QR code on the admission slip, or read the address out to the parent. When they open it, they are signed in — no code, no typing.
Two ways to give it out
| Choice | Use it when | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|
| Printed QR code | The parent is at the counter, or the slip goes home in the child’s bag. | 48 hours — long enough for a slip printed today and collected tomorrow. |
| Hand over the link | You are with the parent now and will read it out or copy it into a message yourself. | 15 minutes — it is meant to be used while you are still talking. |
The four things worth knowing before you use it
- It works once. The moment a parent opens it, the link is spent. A screenshot forwarded to somebody else is already useless — which is exactly why this is safer than reading out a code that keeps working.
- Whoever holds it can sign in. The link is not tied to a phone. Anyone who can read it can open that parent’s account, so hand it to the parent, not to a child, a driver or a class group. That is why we ask you to choose how you are giving it out — the record keeps your name against it.
- It is shown to you once and cannot be looked up again. We never keep a readable copy. If the slip is lost, issue a new one; you cannot ask us to show you the old one.
- Issuing a new link cancels the old one. One link per parent number at a time. If you reprint a slip, the first slip stops working immediately — so do not print two and hand out the wrong one.
If a slip goes missing
Press Cancel link on that parent’s row. The link stops working straight away. Nothing else about the parent’s account changes, and they can still sign in the usual way with a code sent to their phone.
What the printed slip shows
The slip is your school’s, not ours. At the top it carries your school logo, your institute name and the campus name, in that order — the same logo and name that appear on your fee challans and student cards. EDUBase appears only as a small line at the very bottom.
The logo comes from your campus record, so if the slip prints with your name but no logo, upload one under Admin → Campus and print again. A slip with no logo is still perfectly usable — the school name is what a parent reads.
The QR code itself is printed at a fixed size with clear white space around it, and nothing is ever printed on top of it. Please keep it that way when you design your admission slip: a logo or a stamp placed over the code stops a phone camera reading it, and the slip then looks fine while working for nobody.
Not finished yet — please read before you print
The school side is ready. The parent side is not. A link you issue today is real and recorded, but the Parents app cannot yet open it: the page the link points at, and the app update that recognises it, are still being built and released.
So until EDUBase tells you it is live: use this screen to try it out, but keep giving parents their login code the usual way, and do not print QR codes onto admission slips yet. This note will be removed from this article when a scanned code really does sign a parent in.
Who can use this screen
Nobody, until you grant it. Like every new screen, this one starts switched off for everyone — including your own admin account. Go to Admin → Users & Privileges, find Parent App Login Links under Dashboard, and tick it for the staff who work the admission counter. Anyone without it sees the screen’s buttons greyed out.
