The Absentees print comes out with every class in it instead of the ones I filtered and ticked — how do I print only those?

Where in EDUBase: Exam & Att › Student Attendance › Absentees

Last updated

Exam & Att (formerly Exam & Attendance) › Student Attendance › Absentees. Set From and To, optionally an Absentee Count and Consecutive Days, then press Get Record. The grid lists one row per student, with that student's absence records nested inside it.

Print gives you the records you filtered and ticked, and only those

The campus, class and section boxes under the column headings narrow the grid, and so does the search box. The checkbox in the Attendance heading ticks everything the grid is currently showing — across every page of it, not just the page you are looking at.

The line under the buttons always says how many records Print is about to contain, and warns you when your filters are hiding records you had ticked. Read that line before you press Print.

This used to be wrong. Filtering to one class, ticking the master checkbox and pressing Print produced every record in the whole date range, not the filtered ones. That is fixed — Print now contains exactly what is filtered and ticked.

Ticks survive a filter change

Ticks are not cleared when you change a filter. Narrow to one class, tick it, widen again, and your ticks are still there. Records that a filter is hiding simply do not print.

If every one of your ticks is hidden by the current filters, Print refuses and tells you so rather than printing nothing or printing everything.

Excel and PDF are different

Excel and PDF export the students the grid is showing. They do not use the ticks — only the filters. This was always the case and has not changed.

Consecutive Days

With Consecutive Days = Yes the printed performa shows one line per student rather than one line per absence.

Common confusion

"I ticked the heading checkbox but only this page got selected." It selects the whole filtered set across every page. The count under the buttons tells you how many that is — check it against what you expected.

"The Print and the Excel do not contain the same students." They will not, if you have ticked a subset. Excel follows the filters; Print follows the filters and the ticks.
