Marks entered on the portal need not appear on the Parents App straight away. Every saved result row (one student, one subject, one exam) carries a Show / Hidden switch, controlled from Exam & Att (formerly Exam & Attendance) › Examination › View Marks and SMS. Parents see only rows marked Show; hidden rows stay saved on the portal and simply do not appear in the app.
Keeping first-term numbers off the app while you enter them
On the marks sheet (Add Marks and SMS / Update Marks and SMS → open the award list) there is a box Parent App Notification & live Marks. It starts unticked.
- Save with it unticked → marks are stored but not switched on for the app; new results start as Hidden.
- Save with it ticked → every result on that save becomes Show, and a result notification goes to the app at once.
The Teacher App is the same: a plain save keeps marks off the app. So type the first term's numbers in with the box unticked — the marks are on the portal, and nothing has reached the Parents App.
Steps — show (or hide) results in bulk (sab ko ek saath dikhana)
- Go to Exam & Att (formerly Exam & Attendance) › Examination › View Marks and SMS
- Set From and To to cover the exam's test dates (both default to today), press Get Record
- Filter by Class, Section, Exam Name or Parent App (Show / Hidden)
- Tick the rows — the header checkbox ticks every row on the current page
- Press Show Selected Results On Parents App (PTM day, when parents are to see the numbers) or Hide Selected Results From Parents App
- The Parent App column flips at once; you can change it back any time
Common confusion
"I hid one class but other classes still show." Show / Hide changes only the rows you ticked, and the header checkbox selects the current page only (100 rows by default) — set Show entries to All or repeat per page, and make sure the date range covers those classes' test dates.
"The list is empty." The range matches the exam test date on the award list, not the day marks were saved.
"Does hiding also stop SMS or the result card?" No. Only the Parents App result screen reads this switch. Result SMS, the Parent App Notification tick beside the SMS buttons, and printed result cards go out regardless — so do not send a marks SMS for results you are holding back.
"The buttons are greyed." They need the update right on View Marks and SMS — ask your admin. Hide is reversible; the red Delete beside it is permanent.
