It opens ready — no date picking, no submit
Exam & Att (formerly Exam & Attendance) › Examination › Update Marks and SMS loads its list of award lists as soon as you open it, filled in with this month so far. You no longer have to pick a date range and press submit to see anything.
It also remembers the range you were last using, so the edit → save → back loop returns you to the same lists instead of a blank page. Reset returns you to this month.
The range is remembered for the current browser session only — it does not follow you into next term.
🔴 The SMS recipient boxes now start UNTICKED
The Father / Mother / Student contact boxes and the Parents app notification box on this screen used to arrive already ticked, sitting right beside a Save & Send SMS button that, at the time, dispatched immediately with no confirmation. One mis-click reached every father on the list.
They now start unticked. You choose who the message goes to, deliberately, every time.
Save & Send SMS refuses when no contact is chosen and tells you so — it does not quietly send nothing. That refusal is the commonest reason a message does not reach anybody from this screen.
Saving marks is unaffected. A teacher pressing Save Marks or Update Marks sees no new step — unless Parent App Notification is ticked with a contact, in which case the notification is shown for checking first.
Save & Send SMS shows every message before it goes
Since September 2026, Save & Send SMS first saves the marks, then opens the Send result SMS window. Choose the message type (Individual, Subject Combine, Combine) and the format (the school's own template, Exam Alert — points, or Short — one line), read the real messages — who gets each one, how long it is, which students are skipped and why — then press Send. Closing the window, or Don't send, sends nothing; the marks stay saved.
A student marked A (absent) or L (leave) is written as Absent / On leave in the message, never 0.
Students added later arrive ticked, with 0
When Add New Student adds students to an award list that already exists, they now appear on Update Marks ticked, with 0 in the marks field.
They used to appear unticked underneath a ticked select-all — which looked like everything was selected when it was not, and saving then wiped those students' results.
Overtype the 0 with the real mark before saving.
Common confusion
"Button dabaya lekin message nahi gaya." Two causes, both on this screen: you pressed Save Marks, which only stores the marks and never sends anything; or you pressed Save & Send SMS with none of Father, Mother or Student ticked, so it refused and sent no message; or the Send result SMS window opened and was closed without pressing Send. Tick at least one contact, press Save & Send SMS, and press Send in the window.
"I only wanted to save the marks, not text anybody." Use Save Marks. Save & Send SMS is the button that texts.
"The list shows lists I did not expect." The date range at the top is remembered from last time. Press Reset to go back to this month.
