How do I assign a grading policy to a class (Class Grading Policy)?

Where in EDUBase: Exam › Class Grading Policy

Last updated

Exam › Class Grading Policy attaches a grading policy (made at Exam › Grading Policy) to the classes that use it. Grades and remarks on award lists, result cards and the marks SMS are worked out from the policy assigned to the student's class. A policy that exists but is not assigned to a class does nothing.

Steps

  1. Open Exam › Class Grading Policy. The top card is the form; the table below lists every class that already has a policy, grouped by policy name.
  2. Pick the Campus.
  3. Pick one or more Classes. Only classes linked to that campus that hold active students are offered, and classes that already have a policy are left out — one class holds one policy.
  4. Pick the Grading Policy by name and press Create.
  5. To change a class's policy, press the pencil on its row, choose the new policy and press Update. To remove it, press the bin — it asks "Are you sure?" and cannot be undone.

Common confusion

  • "Grading policy not found!" on an examination report — the class has no row here, or the policy its row points to was deleted. Assign a policy and run the report again.
  • The class is not in the dropdown. Either it already has a policy (edit that row instead) or it has no active students.
  • "Some Class Grading Policy Already Exists. Some are Added Successfully." — you selected several classes and one already had a policy; the others were saved, the existing one was left as it was.
  • I changed the policy but the award list still shows the old grade. The grade shown on an award list is written when the marks are saved, so it stays until those marks are saved again. Examination reports (result card, term wise…) work the grade out fresh from the current class policy every time they run.
  • Direct Grading subjects show no grades to pick on marks entry — the grade choices come from the policy assigned to the class here. No class policy, no choices.
  • The marks SMS templates Combine Marks / Subject Combined Marks fill [grade] and [remarks] from this same class policy; without one the message is not sent.
