How do I create test types / exam names (Mid Term, Final Term) per campus — why does one not show at another campus, and why can't I delete or rename it?

Where in EDUBase: Exam › Test Type

Last updated

Exam › Test Type (the page calls itself Exam Name) is where you define the exams a school holds — First Term, Mid Term, Final Term, Monthly Test… Each test type belongs to one campus, and award lists, marks entry and Examination Reports show only the test types of the campus you are working in.

Steps

  1. Open Exam › Test Type.
  2. Select Campus — tick one or several (every campus is listed, including a new one with no students yet).
  3. Type the Exam Type name and press Create. One entry is made per ticked campus.
  4. To rename, press the pencil on a row: edit works on that one campus row; press Update.
  5. To remove, press the bin and confirm.

The table below lists every exam name with the Campus it belongs to.

Common confusion

  • A test type does not show at another campus (dusre campus par wohi exam name list mein nahi aata). Test types are never shared between campuses, so one made at Campus A does not show on Campus B's award list, marks entry or reports. Tick the campus where it is missing, type the same name and press Create.
  • "Some Exam Name Already Exists In Selected Campuses. Some are Added Successfully." — one ticked campus already had that name; the others were added, and nothing is duplicated.
  • Rename refused: "Exam Name Already Exists In Selected Campus!" — that campus already has a row with the new name; use that row instead of renaming into it.
  • Delete refused: "Failed To Delete This Exam Type. Because It Is Associated To AwardList" — an award list (marks) already uses it. A test type with results is never deleted; delete the award lists first if they were made by mistake, otherwise leave it.
  • Renaming a test type renames it on every existing award list and report that uses it — the results stay attached.
  • Term weightage (20% / 30% / 50%) is not set here; that is Exam › Test Type Weightage.
