There is no separate "activate" button. A student becomes active again the moment their Current Status is set back to Currently Enrolled on the update form. The only trick is finding them: Admissions › Manage Students lists Currently Enrolled students only, so a child marked Left, Graduated, Expelled or Suspended is not there — which is why it looks like there is no option.
Steps
- Open Extras › All Students — it lists students of every status
- Find the child with the column filters (student name, admission number, father's name) — or press the grid settings gear, switch on the Current Status column and filter it to Left
- Click the cog at the end of the row → Update
- Under Office Information, change Current Status to Currently Enrolled; the Date of Leaving box disappears
- Check the campus, class, section and fee plan are the ones they are joining now
- Press Update and Go Back
The child is back in Manage Students, attendance and challan generation straight away. Their old admission number, roll number, fee history and results stay attached — nothing is created twice.
To make many students active at once
Select them in All Students, press Bulk Edit, choose Currently Enrolled under Select Status, then Update.
Good to know
- The old Date of Leaving stays on the record after the child is active again (the Leaving Date column in All Students still shows it). The status is what counts — the child is no longer in the Inactive Student Report
- Both the Left change and the active again change are recorded in User Logging as Critical and in the child's Change Log, with the person and the time
- The Update button stays grey until every red-labelled field on the form is filled — Fee Plan is one of them, so a returning child needs a fee plan chosen
- If your school has set seat limits under Core › Admission Capacity and switched the hold on, making a child active into a class that is already full is saved but held: the message says the student is waiting for approval before they are counted, and they appear in Admissions › Admission Approvals. Schools with no capacity limits see no change
- The Parents App pulls enrolled children only, so the child shows there again the next time the parent signs in
- Do not add the child again as a new admission — that creates a duplicate record with a second admission number and its own fee plan
